Dads, moms, kids, young and old celebrate your Father’s Day tradition or create a new one at the 27th Annual Father’s Day Kite Fly. Every year hundreds of kites take to the skies at the Goose Spit in Comox for this popular event.
We invite all to come and enjoy the kaleidoscope of colors and shapes as kites of all kinds take to the sky. Participate or just observe this event is for fun and a good family outing.
Registration is free for everyone thanks to the generosity and co-sponsor from Courtenay Recreation, Whales Tale Toys, and the Father Involvement Network. Ribbons and prizes are awarded in such categories as Peoples’ Choice, Stunt Kites, Favorite Father’s Day Kite, Amazing Home-made, Family Entry, Oldest Pilot, Largest Kite, Hard-Luck Flyer and more.
The Kite Fly is scheduled for Sunday, June 16 at Goose Spit. Please respect the parking at Goose Spit and take advantage of the free shuttle leaving from Brooklyn Elementary. Registration takes place from 12:00-12:30 pm with the flying and judging taking place from 12:30-2:30 pm.
Join us Saturday, April 20th downtown Courtenay, 10 am to 3 pm at 5th and England where Backyard Farmers Unite to celebrate Earth Day.
Celebrate Earth friendly living in the heart of Courtenay where you will find seeds, seedlings & plant sale, Earth Day arts and crafts for kids, skyrocket compost, interactive demos, local food event, neighbourhood group information, live music and other surprises!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 2011 Father's Day Kite Fly at Goose Spit. This year was bigger than in previous years with over 120 entries in all sorts of different categories. As usual, the weather cooperated with just enough wind to make flying our home made and store bought creations easy and fun.
